Wetty Beatz and 2023 Calypso Monarch Fya Empress have been announced as St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ latest cultural ambassadors.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves during SVG’s 44th Independence Day military parade.
Wetty Beatz who hails from Union Island was described by the Prime Minister as highly talented. He is currently based in Europe and is internationally acclaimed.
He has been instrumental in the takeoff of the music genre Afro-Soca that combines the pulse and sounds of African music with notorious Soca vibes.
Over the years he has been called upon by notable Caribbean artistes for his production.
Fya Empress is a well-known singer and songwriter from SVG and has performed won many competitions with several titles under her belt, including the 2017 Vincy Calypso Monarch, the 2013 Ragga Soca Monarch and the 2012 Road March crown.
