Reggae star Skip Marley was forced to postpone the last few legs of his Change Tour after testing positive for the coronavirus. He announced the unfortunate news via social media this morning (October 9).
“I was feeling under the weather yesterday and unfortunately I have tested positive for COVID,” he began.
“To keep my family & my fans safe I am very sorry to say I need to postpone the rest of the Change Tour. I’ll announce new dates as soon as we can.”
The young Marley didn’t specify the severity of his case.
His diagnosis comes mere weeks after he was denied entry into Canada for failure to satisfy an “order or regulation made by the Governor in Council under the Emergencies Act or Quarantine Act.”
The 26-year-old, who is the son of Cedella Marley and David Minto, was on a North American tour that kicked off on August 27 in Detroit, Michigan.
He also performed at the Asbury Park in New Jersey.
He was billed for other shows across California, Washington DC, Texas, and Florida. The tour is dubbed “Change” after a single of the same name released in April via Tuff Gong/Island Records.
Skip, who is best known for his Gold-selling hit Slow Down with H.E.R., is reportedly working on a full-length debut album, which will follow his Grammy-nominated Higher Place EP.
