The US has issued a travel warning for Kenya ahead of a visit by President Barack Obama, who is due to address a summit on global entrepreneurship.

The summit, to be held in the capital, Nairobi, from July 24th-26th, could provide “a target for terrorists”, the US State Department said in a statement.

It has urged its citizens to “maintain a high level of security awareness” as part of the new travel warning, which expires on July 30th, 2015.

Mr Obama’s visit to Kenya will be his first to his father’s homeland as US leader.
