The unemployment rate in Jamaica currently stands at 7.1percent for October 2021, a decline of 3.7 percentage points when compared to October 2020, the latest data from the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) show.

At the same time, there were 32.4 per cent less unemployed persons in Jamaica, when compared to October 2020. 

Director General of STATIN Carol Coy shared the findings of the October 2021 Labour Force Survey at a media briefing held virtually on Monday, January 12, 2022.

She also outlined that the increase in Jamaica’s employment was more than twice the increase in the labour force.

Further information provided by STATIN shows that unemployment among Jamaica’s declined, with the rate sitting at 18.9 percent, a decrease of 9.3 percent.
