Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister of Health, Terrance Deyalsingh while speaking at a press briefing said that his office has received some queries from tour operators as their service resumed on Monday.

Deyalsingh called for patience as he suggested that the government was gradually taking risks to restart the economy.

A member of the media grilled the Minister on whether consultations were had with these operators, specifically those in Caroni, as their tour highlights birds such as the Scarlet Ibis that move around on evenings rather than earlier in the day.

However, Deyalsingh said while his office has received letters highlighting this issue, at this moment, nothing will be changed.

Instead, he called for patience as he suggested that the government was gradually taking risks to restart the economy.

An updated Public Health Ordinance was published noting that water-based tours can resume at 50% capacity from 5am to 2pm. But this has not been ideal for some tour operators such as Caroni Bird Sanctuary boat tours, as their tours highlights birds such as the Scarlet Ibis that move around on evenings rather than earlier in the day.
