Health Officials in St. Kitts and Nevis have confirmed that the five recorded deaths over the past week have been unvaccinated elderly individuals with pre-existing conditions.
These deaths reported within days of each other raised alarm as it has been confirmed that Omicron has been the dominant strain of covid19 present in the federation.
Medical Chief of Staff at St. Kitts and Nevis’ Joseph N. France General Hospital Dr. Cameron Wilkinson has called on persons to remain vigilant as Omicron could infect persons knowingly and unknowingly and has the capacity to overwhelm health system.
In the fourth wave the federation climbed from 23 active cases on December 22rd, 2021 to a high of 1,360 cases by January 14th, 2022.
