A one-year-old baby girl is among the eight latest COVID-19 deaths reported in Jamaica. The deaths occurred from September 1st, 2021, to January 13th, 2022, taking the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 2530.

According to Jamaica’s Ministry of Health and Wellness, the country hit a new record for daily COVID-19 infections with 1968 cases recorded.

However, despite the record number of cases, Jamaica’s COVID-positivity rate fell to its lowest in days, at 31.7 per cent for the one-day period, with over 7,000 tests being done.

The newly confirmed COVID-19 cases brought the total number on record for the island to 112,218.

There are currently 446 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Jamaica.
