Petitions to challenge the recently held Election results in St. Kitts Nevis, have been filed by two candidates from the Nevis Reformation Party, who were defeated in the December 12, 2022, Nevis Island Assembly Election.

Jaedee Caines filed her petition with the High Court of Justice of St Christopher and Nevis yesterday.

Caines, garnered 604 votes while the incumbent Concerned Citizens Movement’s Spencer Brand, received 631 votes.

ICaines was quoted as saying by Caribbean Loop News – “I just want to say thanks to everyone who partnered to make this possible. I also want to thank everyone who encouraged me to move this matter forward. I have always felt that the December 12, 2022 elections were not fair across the board and based on a number of factors, we are here today. I won’t comment on the specifics of the petition but I thought it necessary to let the people of Nevis – the people of St. Paul – know that their change agent is standing up for what is right!”

Last week, Dr Patricia Bartlette filed her election petition for the Nevis 2 (St John) seat. She was defeated by Premier Mark Brantley, who received 1,313 votes.

Brantley received the summons to appear in court yesterday as he celebrated his birthday.

In a post on Facebook, Brantley thank his “good cousin” for the birthday gift.
