Michel Platini has confirmed he will be a candidate to be the next president of football’s governing body, FIFA, when the elections take place on February 26th, 2016.

According to BBC Sports, the 60-year-old Uefa president says FIFA needs to “turn over a new leaf” after being dogged by corruption allegations.

Platini, a former three-time Ballon d’Or winner, has a good chance of becoming Fifa president after receiving indications of support from four continental confederations.

Candidates have until October 26th to be nominated.
