Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced that the nightly 8pm to 5am curfew that is in place to limit the transmission of the COVID-19 virus will remain in place on weekdays until June 3.

Holness said the tighter weekend curfew will remain in force during this period with some modifications.

Beginning this weekend, the curfew will begin at 6pm on Saturday and will run until 5am Sunday. The curfew will then run from 2pm Sunday until 5:00 the next morning. This will take place over the next four weekends, ending on June 3.

Jamaicans will also be under lockdown for Labour Day which will this year be observed on Monday, May 24. The holiday will be a “no movement” day.  As such, the curfew that will begin at 2pm on Sunday, May 23, will remain in force until 5am on Tuesday, May 25.
