The injunction filed to stop Barbados’ general elections has been dismissed.

The case reportedly claimed that the exclusion of the eligible voters who are diagnosed with COVID-19 currently, breaches Section 6 of Barbados’ Representation of the People Act, which speaks to the rights of the electors.

After hours of deliberation, High Court judge, Justice Cicely Chase, ruled against the case that was filed by human rights attorney Lalu Hanuman on behalf of Philip Catlyn of the Barbados Sovereignty Party (BSP).

Justice Chase stated that the proper forum to hear the case would be an election court and not the High Court.

Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Mottley on Tuesday said that the move would have come to nothing and never doubted that elections would go ahead as planned.
