Guyanese President Dr Mohammed Irfaan Ali is in Qatar seeking to build business and bilateral relations between both nations.

Ali arrived in the Qatari capital Doha on Sunday and he was greeted by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, at the Hamad International Airport.

Joining Ali on the trip is Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh; the Director of Presidential Affairs and Marcia Nadir-Sharma.

The President’s Office said Ali met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Minister of Finance, Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari on Monday.

“Discussion centred on several areas of mutual cooperation between Guyana and Qatar,” the President’s Office said in a social media post.

Ali presented the senior government officials with paintings from Guyanese artist Dillon Craig.
