The Government of Grenada in its latest update on progressing the Cannabis industry says it is moving ahead with plans to legalise and decriminalise Cannabis to support the exploitation of the plant for medicinal purposes.

Grenada’s Minister of Finance Dennis Cornwall made the announcement on Monday as he presented the National Budget.

The Grenadian minister says new legislation to advance this agenda is expected to come on stream during the first quarter of 2024.

Cornwall says the government remains committed to diversifying Grenada’s economic base and in finding new modes of economic growth and transformation.

Back In September 2022, the Government of Grenada announced that it had established a Commission on Cannabis Legalisation and Regulation.
