Barbados has recorded its 53rd COVID-19 death.

The Barbados Government Information Service said in a media release on Wednesday, that a 60-year-old Barbadian man died with the viral illness on Tuesday in the Accident and Emergency Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The media release added he had co-morbidities and was unvaccinated.

Barbados’ Minister of Health and Wellness, Jeffrey Bostic expressed sincere condolences to the family and friends of the man.

Also reported in Barbados were an additional 124 laboratory confirmed cases of the virus, which now brings their active cases to 752.

A total of 6,177 laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Barbados since the start of the pandemic.
