Two more Barbadians have died from COVID-19, bringing Barbados’ death toll for October to 77, half of the overall number of lives lost from the viral illness.

A 69-year-old woman passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Accident & Emergency Department on Friday, while an 81-year-old Barbadian woman succumbed to the illness at the Blackman and Gollop Isolation Facility yesterday.  They were both unvaccinated.

The total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Barbados now stands at 155.

There were three deaths in August and in September that figure jumped to 27, but October has proven to be the most deadly since the virus was first detected in Barbados in March last year.

Health officials in Barbados have been warning Barbadians about waiting too late to seek treatment, saying that was one reason for the increasing death rate.
