Two road fatalities were recorded in Grenada for the first two days of 2023.

One of the accidents occurred in the North of the country on January 1 while the other occurred in the South on January 2nd.

Head of the Traffic Department, Inspector Randell Baptiste, told the Grenada Information Service that “one fatality is one too many and Motorists Need to understand the importance of driving at controllable speed.”

“It’s a real concern for us at the Traffic Department and RGPF, having to face two fatal accidents, one on the 1st and one on the 2nd,” said Inspector Baptiste. A fatality is way too much, because it affects families and sometimes that life that has been taken can be the sole breadwinner of their family, so we know how much a loss of life can contribute.

“Motorists need to be mindful of the practical exams that they were taught, prior to obtaining their licenses, and put what was learnt into practice,” he said.
