Stakeholder recommendations, along with COVID-19 spread will be factored into decisions on the return of Trinidad and Tobago’s students to physical classes for Terms II and III.

This was made clear following meetings of T&T’s Ministers of Education Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly and Lisa Morris- Julian, along with THA Education Secretary Zorisha Hackett and Ministry officials with education stakeholders on Monday and Tuesday.

Stakeholders included the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association, Principals’ Associations, Denominational School Boards, Special Schools’ Associations, Private Schools’ Associations and the National Parent Teacher Association.

T&T’s Education Ministry has proposed that students in Forms One to Three will return to physical classes in February on a rotational basis.

Stakeholders were given the opportunity to make recommendations based on the draft document provided by the Ministry of Education, and several issues and matters for consideration were raised.

There was consensus that it’s critical for Trinidad and Tobago’s students to return safely to physical school, with ample supervision to ensure that students do not breach safety protocols.
