It does not appear that Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Health will be following in step with other countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom to amend the period for quarantine and isolation.

Questioned about it at Wednesday’s virtual press conference, T&T’s health ministry’s epidemiology division’s technical director Dr Avery Hinds said it’s something that’s being monitored and will be changed if deemed necessary.

“They aren’t changes that are made precipitously or at a whim. They’re changes that are made when we consider both what the international science says and what our local epidemiology reflects,” he said.

“So that’s something that will continue to be reviewed and if changes are appropriate and necessary then those changes will be made in due course.”

He said T&T’s protocols were designed to ensure transmission does not occur.
