A 51-year-old woman is the latest murder victim in St Kitts and Nevis.

According to police reports, Dahlia Hanley was at the Irish Town Primary School, where she worked as a security guard when she was shot multiple times by an assailant at approximately 4:10 pm.

According to Loop News, the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force said officers on patrol in the area responded immediately and gave chase behind some suspects who they later arrested.

“Items of evidential value were also recovered,” the police force noted.

The police force thanked members of the public for assisting them in their response efforts and offered condolences to Hanley’s family.

The 2023 murder toll on St Kitts and Nevis now stands at four.

Meanwhile, St. Kitts and Nevis’ Ministry of Education has announced that face-to-face classes at the Irish Town Primary School have been suspended in an effort to “allow the staff and students to receive compassionate care while authorities investigate an unfortunate incident that took place after the close of school.”
