Senator Ashelle Morgan and Deputy DPP Karim Nelson have been acquitted of charges brought against them in the Cornelius John matter.

Cornelius John according to his Lawyer Kay Bacchus was shot, beaten and threatened in his home on April 13th.

The decision was handed down this morning, less than 24 hours after a no case submissions were made, following six days of evidence at the Magistrates Court.

Nelson’s lawyer Mr. Duane Daniel following the decision, in a video posted by the News of the Caribbean in response to a question stated that “justice was allowed to speak”.

Lawyer Kay Bacchus spoke on the matter saying that she believes there was a bumbling in the prosecution, stating that the evidence was not properly presented.

Mr. Ronald Marks in the same video when asked for his comments stated “the evidence in the matter spoke for itself and the lack of evidence spoke for the issue as well”.
