Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says it is unbecoming and wrong for anyone to physically assault a person based on any prejudice they may have toward that individual due to his/her sexual orientation.

His comment came in response to a question raised by a reporter at a media briefing this morning, in wake of an incident whereby about three males who are reported to have in recent times dressed as up in female attire, were physically assaulted.

A video of the said incident was posted on social media.

Dr. Gonsalves condemned the incident and said that such irrational homophobia is entirely unacceptable.

The Prime Minister explained that there are laws here that address issues of Indecency, Buggery and indecent sexual acts.

Dr. Gonsalves suggested the possibility of the churches starting a National Conversation on the issue of homosexuality.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Colin John said an investigation has been launched into the matter.
