The “Gangsta Rass” Munga Honorable told Negus Imara that despite not being the one who gave the subgenre the name “Trap”, he was still the one to introduce it to dancehall.

Munga says his 2006 hit Flipping Rhymes made him the pioneer of the Trap Sound within dancehall

The artiste fateful encounter with Don Corleon, impressed him enough to produce Flipping Rhymes.

Even though the term “Trap Dancehall” was proclaimed when Rygin King, who was deemed the “Trap Lord”, released his hit song TUFF in 2017, Munga stands firm in his assertion of being the pioneer.

Just like Munga, a lot of other Jamaican Dancehall artistes have laid their own claims to the subgenre.
