Grenadians are being urged to be more empathetic and less judgmental to the nation’s children whose lives were greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and which in some instances deprived them of a normal childhood.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell in his annual Independence Day message said children were hardest hit by the pandemic which changed their young lives.

He said while electronic devices were distributed through the government for the option of online learning, nothing is adequate to replace valuable face to face instructional time for young people and their impressionable minds.

Mitchell said with significant learning loss, boys and girls have been deprived of social interaction that is necessary to foster good human relations.
