The Barbados Labour Party has retained power and won the 2022 General Election.

Called in a snap, 18 months before constitutionally due, the Red Party has been able to the double and made history once more now as the first party to win the first general election since Barbados transitioned to a parliamentary Republic.

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has said that she believes in two-term leadership and believes that this may be her last term in elective politics. Now the ninth prime minister to lead the Gem of the Caribbean, Mottley has further stamped her name in the annals of the country’s history.

Prime Minister Mottley at the launch of the BLP 2022 manifesto cautioned residents and citizens against voting for an opposition and her request and word of warning have seemingly not fallen on deaf ears.
