Former Minister and Senator John Williams to the Government of Barbados have passed away, according to family members.

Reports are that Williams died on his 74th birthday on Sunday 20th August at 6 p.m.

Williams, a former Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office from April 2003 to March 2008 has served the country at several levels.

He was a former Ambassador to CARICOM from 2006 to 2008 and represented Barbados at the Association of Caribbean States.

He also served as Chairman of the Administrative General & Professional Service Commission, was a member of the Employment Rights Tribunal and sat on several boards including the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation, the National Initiative for Service Excellence and the Barbados Vocational Training Board.
