Jamaica’s Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke has announced a two-month extension of two Government programs which assist tourism employees and others.
Clarke said the BEST cash grants which are for tourism employees and the SET Cash grants which are for other workers will be extended to August. They were expected to end in June.
These programs were introduced in order to assist Jamaicans affected by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic
The extension of the programmes will benefit just under 50,000 workers who were earning up to JAD $1.5 million a year.
The Jamaican Minister said the grants of JAD $18,000 a month would help many people with loans and other obligations.
