The Virgin Islands Police Force Department (VIPD) has arrested Anyah Smith for Murder in the First Degree along with additional charges for the death of her daughter.
32-year-old Smith was arrested on Monday and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending her Advise of Rights Hearing.
Police in the US Virgin Islands first announced on Sunday that they were probing the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a 9-year-old girl on St Thomas.
On Saturday at around 5 am, officers travelled to Rumer Road in the area of Vitraco Mall in reference to a DOA.
Emergency Medical Technicians on scene concluded that a 9-year-old female did not have any vital signs.
