The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines did not drop the ball in regard to its response to COVID-19; this is according to the Minister of Health Hon. St. Clair Prince who made the statement in response to a question from the leader of the Opposition Dr. Hon. Godwin Friday during the House of Assembly yesterday.

“The Government did not drop the ball, rather, the extensive measures implemented succeeded in preventing the rise in cases of COVID-19 for ten months, which was seen in every neighbouring country throughout 2020.

Between March 2020 and December 26th, 2020, this country recorded one hundred and ten cases while neighbouring countries such as St. Lucia, Grenada, Trinidad, Martinique and Barbados were experiencing scores of cases for months.

“The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines’, through NEMO, coordinated response, led by the health services subcommittee, working closely with the Ministry of National Security, implemented continuously adapted measures in keeping with the constantly changing knowledge and epidemiology of the COVID-19 pandemic and local events and situations.” He said.
