A St. Vincent and the Grenadines Parrot hatched at a zoo in Houston Texas in the United States.

The news comes just days after Minister of Agriculture Saboto Caesar announced in Parliament that 15 parrots sent to Germany have not since hatched.

According to Houstonzoo.org, the Houston Zoo has named the Parrot Mustique Springer – after the Island of Mustique and Fitzroy Springer – a man who dedicated his life to the conservation of the species.

The Amazona Guildingii Parrot, a male, hatched in May. The Amazona Guildingii is the National Bird of St. Vincent & the Grenadines and is Endemic to this country.
