The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cannabis Revival Committee (SVGCRC) supports the government’s move to establish a modern medicinal cannabis industry here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, even as it continues to call for the decriminalization and the Religious freedom of the herb as a sacrament.

On February 19, 2018, more than 25 persons representing Cannabis growers and Consumers from several communities met at Victoria Park to discuss the matter.

The meeting, which was called by the SVGCRC, was presided over by its President-Junior Spirit Cottle, and Vice President-Ajit Duncan. It also looked at the restructuring of the organization to enable it to operate more effectively.

The SVGCRC said in a release that it views medical cannabis as a stepping stone to its other objectives.

To this end, it is calling on the Unity Labour Party (ULP) government to ensure that traditional farmers become an integral part of the process, that the new law reflects the interest of the growers, and that our country and people become the principal benefactors of any such industry to be established.

It also calls on the opposition New Democratic Party (NDP), to support the way forward in this regard.

Meanwhile several persons: Fitz Allan Lewis, Frankie Paul, Conliff Pompey, Wyclioffe Dickson, Berkley Delplesche, Osborne Caine, and Sydney Joseph were elected to fill some vacancies as executive members of the SVGCRC.
