Minister of Tourism the Hon. Carlos James says that he expects St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Tourism sector’s contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to peak in 2023. This statement was made by Minister James during a recent call to the Issues at Hand program.

“I think that by the middle of this term—we are talking 2023/2024—we are going to see a significant peak in Tourism’s contribution to the GDP. We are going to significant peak in terms of tourism in general in terms of its growth and the tremendous prospects for employment within the sector.” He said.

Minister James also emphasized the importance having locals trained adequately in areas pertaining to the services that this peak in tourism will demand.

One of the many examples the tourism minister provided is in the case of Air Conditioning (AC) technicians servicing multitude of AC units that would be located within a 250 room hotel.
