This country’s Minister of Finance Hon. Camillo Gonsalves, during the sitting of the House of Assembly on Wednesday January 27th 2021, provided an update on the Sandals Beaches Resort.
“Sandals is up to date on their schedule on obligations, contractual obligations, so far as it concerns the Beaches resort they plan to build.
The Covid pandemic has delayed on their part, some actions, as it has delayed some actions on our side, which included the removal and auctioning of some moveable assets on the property, which will take place in the coming weeks, Covid permitting.
The Sandals Resorts which is also a family owned company suffered a loss in the family and we extend our condolences to the Stewart family in that regard, but we have been in touch with them, everything is still on track for commencement of works on the facility late February/early March.” He said.
The commencement contract was signed by the Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Ralph Gonsalves and then Deputy Chairman, now Chairman of Sandals Resorts International Adam Stewart back in October of last year.
