This past Tuesday night on WEFM, during the Feedback program, President of the Teacher’s Union Mr. Oswald Robinson, responded to a question from host Kingsley Defreitas as to why, Robinson, who himself is vaccinated, supports the resistance of teachers to not be vaccinated.

The Teachers Union’s President clarified the position of the union on vaccination and teachers being categorized as frontline workers.

“The question that you’re asking there is making an assumption. The position of the union is for choice, pro choice. The teachers union and the majority of teachers are not against vaccination. What they are fighting against is what we call mandatory vaccination, because our constitution, the constitution speaks to the issue on defending and protecting fundamental rights and freedoms”. Robinson said.

He then spoke on the classification of teachers in St. Vincent and the Grenadines as frontline workers.

“We are not saying that teachers should not be frontline workers, that is not the point. Becoming a frontline worker does not mean that someone should tell you “you have to take this into your body” you should have a choice”. He said.
