A series of intense winter storms have wreaked havoc across the eastern United States and Canada, resulting in at least three deaths and over half a million homes without power.

The state of Florida experienced severe winds that caused homes to collapse and cars to flip, with multiple tornadoes reported across the area.

Flight cancellations numbered over 1,300, with Vice-President Kamala Harris’ plane being diverted due to weather.

By Tuesday evening, more than 630,000 households in the eastern US, from Florida to New York State, were without electricity.

 Dozens of counties in Florida have declared a state of emergency, with search and rescue operations required in some areas.

At least twelve tornadoes were reported across Florida, Alabama and Georgia, causing significant damage.
