This country’s Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Ralph Gonsalves has indicated that he will not allow the COVID-19 vaccines to go to waste, saying that he will ensure they are exported to countries that need them before the expiration date.

“And I’m giving notice to everybody in the country; because vaccines are scarce, I don’t intend; I told the Chief Medical Officer already, I said you make sure we have enough vaccines to give people their second doses and keep some for persons additional who may drip by drip.

But if there are vaccines which are about to expire; I said to her, you have to give me a date, beyond which you can reasonably keep these vaccines, and I will offer them to other countries in the region.” He said.

The Prime Minister emphasised the fact that the vaccines are a scarce commodity and he refuses to let them expire and go to waste.

The batch of 40,000 COVID-19 vaccines that were received by SVG from India is set to expire on June 27th 2021.

As of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment’s most recent COVID-19 dashboard 11, 684 persons in St. Vincent and the Grenadines have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
