Dr. Ralph Gonsalves

During a candid a candid interview with Theresa Daniel on VC3’s Roundtable Talk this week, Prime Minister Dr. The Hon. Ralph Gonsalves expressed his dissatisfaction with Opposition Leader Dr. the Hon. Godwin Friday’s response to his injury on Thursday August 5th.

“After my blood was shed and Friday was in the house, not too long after, the most extreme language you can use; you know what he said? He said that what happened was regrettable; in other words my bloodshed was regrettable. What kind of man is that?

The Prime Minister’s blood is shed at a protest in which you were the organizer. Forget this thing about Public Service Union and Teachers Union and so on; if you had a dozen public servants and nurses, and so on there, you had plenty.

He had an opportunity, unequivocally, shortly after he heard that, on the floor of the house, to condemn unequivocally what happened” Gonsalves said.

Prime Minister Gonsalves was struck by an object on Thursday August 5th during protests and was to Barbados for medical treatment. He suffered a concussion, as well as Post Concussion Syndrome as a result of this.

Annamay Lewis of Layou was charged with wounding the Prime Minister. She pleaded not guilty when she appeared in court and was granted $3,000 bail with one surety. She will return to court on September 15th.
