Djokovic Won 6-4 6-2 6-3 to set up a third-round clash with Australian 27th seed Bernard Tomic.
Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, last year’s semi-finalist, defeated American Steve Johnson 7-6 (10-8) 6-2 7-6 (7-2).
Seventh seed Milos Raonic overcame Tommy Haas, while US Open champion Marin Cilic is in action on day three.
Canadian Raonic recorded the third-fastest serve in Wimbledon history as he set up a third-round match against Nick Kyrgios, who defeated Juan Monaco of Argentina 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 6-4.
The match was a farewell to Wimbledon for Nieminen, who is retiring at the end of the season at the age of 33.
