Minister of Education, St. Clair ‘Jimmy’ Prince today congratulated the 47 young persons who were named this week as recipients of the Government’s National Awards for the 2017/2018 academic year.

The graduates of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College will receive National Scholarships, National Exhibitions, and Bursaries which will fund their university studies in a wide range of academic disciplines.

Speaking in Parliament this morning, Minister Prince said a total of thirty-two scholarships and bursaries were awarded to graduates of the Division of Arts, Sciences and General Studies based on their performance in the 2018 CAPE examinations. Of this number, he said 17 are National Scholarships which are tenable for five years, 7 are three-year Exhibition Awards, and 8 are Bursaries.

He said fifteen awards have also been granted to graduates of the Associate Degree programmes.

Minister Prince said the recipient of this year’s Prime Minister Award is Mr. Jerrod Porter.

The Education Minister said these National Scholarships are in addition to the 100 plus bursaries and scholarships the government has awarded to students.
