Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Ralph Gonsalves while speaking on radio recently discussed the country’s low vaccination numbers and how not achieving population immunity could have a negative impact on SVG’s Tourism sector.

“If we don’t return to normalcy, that means if we don’t reach a level of population immunity, which should be between 70-80 percent of the population which should have taken the vaccine, which is to say 18 years old and over, we are going to have problems with our tourism.” He said.

Prime Minister Gonsalves said that even if the country’s economy is open, the low vaccination numbers will effectively close St. Vincent and the Grenadines off from other countries.

He made reference to the fact that SVG, along with most of the region of have been included in the UK’s amber travel advisory list.
