Cjea Weekes, 18 year old motorcyclist died over the weekend after, the teenager’s mother claimed that he was run over by the police. The incident initially left Weekes paralyzed from the chest down, suffered a broken leg and spine following the incident with police which took place last week.

The police reported that the 18-year-old fell after he failed to heed their signal to stop, and further reported that he was driving in a dangerous manner.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves during a call to Star Radio’s Morning Scoop program, while expressing how saddened he was by the 18 year old’s passing said that he had heard accounts from both Weekes and the police.

“I want to publicly say how saddened I am at the death of the eighteen year old, you know, Cjea Weekes. I spoke to Natasha (Cjea’s mother), she’s a friend of the family—it’s terrible, terrible, terrible.”

“I’ve gotten from Natasha, what Cjea told her and I got a summary from the Commissioner of Police. I’m not going to make a comment on either, except to say let’s get to the bottom of this.” The Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister Gonsalves once again reiterated just how terrible the circumstances were, before stating just how important the truth is, in this situation.
