Officers attached to the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) conducted a successful operation which resulted in the arrests of a Vincentian and a Jamaican national for possession of illegal drugs and unlicensed firearm and ammunition respectively.

Acting on information received, officers were dispatched on mobile patrol in search of a motor vehicle which was allegedly occupied by 3 males.

The vehicle in question was spotted in Rillan Hill. The officers followed the vehicle and ordered it to stop.

The three suspects were identified as Erasto Nero of Edinboro, Eric Conliffe of Kingstown Park and Linford George Robinson, a Jamaican residing at Gibson Corner. They were invited to exit the vehicle and a search was carried out.

A bag containing plant materials for what appeared to be cannabis was found, Nero claimed ownership of the bag and was arrested for the possession of a controlled drug.

The two other suspects were arrested on suspicion. All three men later accompanied the party of officers to an apartment located in Gibson’s Corner which was occupied by Robinson.

A search was conducted at the apartment and one AR-15 rifle and sixty rounds prohibited ammunition were found under the suspect’s bed, the offences of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition were pointed out to him and he was arrested.

All three suspects were later escorted to Police Headquarters where further investigations continued.

Linford George Robinson pleaded guilty on Thursday, February 11th.

On Friday February 12th, 2021, Chief Magistrate, Ms. Rechanne Browne sentenced Robinson to a term of imprisonment of five (5) years and four (4) months for possession of the prohibited firearm and two (2) years for possession of the prohibited rounds of ammunition. The sentences are to run concurrently.

Robinson was also ordered to be removed from St. Vincent and the Grenadines after the completion of his sentences.

Robinson was arrested by members of the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) on Tuesday February 9th, 2021 in a police operation.
