The dorm fire at the Mahdia Secondary School in Guyana has claimed its 20th life, following the passing of 13 year old Sherana Daniels.

She was hospitalised following the dormitory fire that claimed the lives of 19 students.

In announcing the tragic news, Guyana’s President Irfaan Ali expressed heartfelt condolences to the parents, relatives, and students.

“Sherana is the 20th victim of this tragedy. We pray that her loved ones are granted strength and courage during this difficult period. My government and all of Guyana continue to keep you in our prayers. Rest in peace and rise in glory Sherana!” he wrote on Facebook.

A secondary school girl in Guyana who allegedly set the dormitory of the Mahdia Secondary School ablaze last Saturday is expected to appear in court on 19 murder charges.
