The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Fire Service is currently in the process of being decentralized, according to Commissioner of Police Colin John.

The commissioner during his appearance on the Issues at Hand program made mention of the fire tender already placed in Georgetown, as well as one earmarked for Barroullie.

“We are currently decentralizing the fire service. There is a fire tender in Georgetown. There is one earmarked for Barroullie. The issue in Barroullie is getting somewhere to house the firemen”

The commissioner said that several facilities in the area have been looked at for the potential of housing the firemen but none have met the requirements necessary to do so. He said that due to this, there is not currently a fire tender in Barroulie.
