Ms. Michelle Forbes, Director of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) while speaking on WEFM’s ‘Wake Up’ morning program last week, discussed why those living in the green zones should also be prepared in the event of an explosive volcanic eruption.

The NEMO director said that while those in the Green Zone might be safer physically, they have just as much of a reason to be prepared as those in the other zones.

She highlighted the hazard of ash fall that comes with an explosive eruption, saying that the ash can be spread all across St. Vincent as well as some of the Grenadines.

Miss Forbes pointed out that those with respiratory issues, even in the Green Zone, should be especially concerned as the ash fall takes place.
