According to information provided by the Health Services Subcommittee COVID-19 deaths in St. Vincent and the Grenadines have now risen to 13.

The deceased is a 41 year old female who died suddenly at home on September 9th 2021, and was found to have succumbed to COVID-19. She had no known underlying conditions and was unvaccinated.

8 new laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 were also recorded in the report from 120 samples, resulting in a positivity rate of 6.7 percent, which brings the total number of cases recorded in SVG to 2,521, of those cases, 183 are currently active.

Also confirmed by the Health Services Subcommittee’s report were the recoveries of two people from the virus, which means recoveries in country now stand at 2,325.

The Health Services Subcommittee in their report advised that correct and consistent use of masks, avoidance of crowds, physical distancing, proper hand sanitizing and immunization with available vaccines have all been proven to significantly reduce the risk of being infected, getting sick and or dying from the COVID-19 virus.
