Health authorities have followed up on the contact tracing of COVID-19 positive individuals from the shelters and so far all testing of contacts have turned up negative. This was disclosed by the Chief Medical Officer Dr. Simone Keizer Beache. Massive testing was also conducted at the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) yesterday, all tests there also turned up negative the CMO said.

Dr. Keizer Beache also discussed primary health within the shelters; she said that they’ve been trying to integrate the shelters into each of the health districts, with displaced Doctors and Nurses from the red and yellow zones being assigned to clinics.

The CMO said that the health authorities are looking at running more Doctor Clinics in order increase access to health care for evacuees in both private homes and shelters.

Medical teams have also been going into shelters themselves to attend to persons with communicable diseases. Individuals with diabetes and hypertension are also being addressed with community nutrition officers working along with Doctors, Nurses and shelter teams to ensure adequate nutrition and that healthy diets are maintained.
