Eight more persons in Guyana have died after contracting COVID-19, taking the country’s overall death toll to 733, their Ministry of Health has reported.

With the addition of the eight new deaths Guyana has recorded 108 deaths since the month of September started; this is the highest number of deaths recorded in a single month since the disease was detected in Guyana in March, 2020.

Meanwhile, their Ministry of Health recorded 130 new cases within the past 24 hours.

Guyana has now recorded a total of 29,683 confirmed cases since the first COVID-19 case was reported in March 2020.

Of Guyana’s active cases, 30 are in the COVID-19 ICU at the National Infectious Diseases Hospital, 130 are in institutional isolation, 3,505 are in home isolation, and one person is in institutional quarantine.
