The Government of Dominica has reaffirmed its commitment to the One China Policy following the recent successful conducting of Taiwan’s election.
Dominica’s Government in a statement, made this clear, saying that this decision is based on international law affirmed by the United Nations Resolution 2758 of October 1971.
The Government of Dominica said it is widely accepted that the future of Taiwan remains a matter within the internal affairs of the People’s Republic of China. Dominica stated that the Taiwanese Presidential election has always been viewed as part of China’s internal politics and has in no way been interpreted as an act that can lawfully bring about the independence of Taiwan.
Dominica has stated that Taiwan, despite any attempt or pronouncement otherwise, remains part of the One China Policy, notwithstanding the results of the January 13, 2024, local government elections.
