Five persons at a shelter in Stubbs have tested positive for COVID-19, this is according to this country’s Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Ralph Gonsalves. Prime Minister Gonsalves made the disclosure while speaking on the radio this morning.

He said that four of the positive cases at the shelter are from evacuees who are there full time while the fifth case is an individual who is not.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of testing at the shelters which are currently housing those who have had to evacuate their homes in the red and orange zones due to the explosive eruption of the La Soufriere.

He went further to urge persons to get vaccinated, stating that only thirteen percent of SVG’s population had been vaccinated.

In addressing person’s doubts about the risks involved with the AstraZeneca vaccine in particular, he said that those risks are minimal and that benefits of taking the vaccine far outweigh those risks.
