300 doses of the Cuban COVID-19 vaccine Abdala has been gift to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. This was disclosed by Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Ralph Gonsalves while speaking on the Issues at Hand program yesterday.
“I know some teachers also, maybe other persons, who have chosen to abandon their jobs under the regulations said that they were interested in the abdala because they trust the Cuban vaccine, that’s the formulation which I got.” He said.
Prime Minister Gonsalves the goes on to speak of his trip to and from Cuba and the gifts he had received.
“I went to Cuba as you know, Monday night, for the ALBA meeting on Tuesday 14th, this week gone here, and on Wednesday, we brought back—as a gift from Cuba—300 doses of the Abdala for 100 persons, as a gift, I think we are the first persons to have received Abdala, in the Caribbean.” He said.
Official Cuban government sources have reported that the results of an initial study by the Cuban Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology involving over 48,000 participants found a 92.28% efficacy rate at preventing symptomatic COVID-19.
